What High-Growth CEOs Put in Their Calendar (That Most Don’t!)

July 8, 2025

When you're leading a fast-growing company, how you spend your time becomes one of the most strategic decisions you'll make.

And yet, no one gives you a manual for this part.

You build a business from scratch, success starts rolling in… And suddenly, you’re not just a founder, you’re the CEO of something big.

But without clarity on where your focus should be, it’s easy to stay stuck in the weeds.

That’s where most founder-CEOs go wrong. Because no one ever showed them what to actually look for, or how to design their week for real leadership.

After helping high-growth CEOs turn around their time, energy, and focus (and double their growth!), that’s what I’m going to help you shift here.

The First Habit Every Founder-CEO Should Build

Learn to step back.

  • Reconnect with the mission.
  • Realign with the long-term vision.
  • Refocus on the true goals of your business.

When you begin here, everything else becomes clearer. Your decisions become more strategic, your actions more intentional. And you're less likely to get pulled off-course by the noise of a growing business.

The Real Job of a CEO? Focus.

Your first job as a CEO is to know where to focus your time, energy, and money (and to lead your team to do the same!)

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • Vision & Strategic Thinking: Space to zoom out and work on the business, not just in it.
  • Financial Visibility: Regular time to review key numbers and make data-informed decisions. (With the right systems that bring them to you.)
  • Leadership & Team Development: Dedicated time to guide your team, shape the culture, and ensure alignment across the business.
  • Customer & Product Insight: Stay connected to the people you serve and the product you're building. Feedback loops, conversations, and review snapshots keep your insight sharp.
  • Relationship Building: Time for high-value connections... partnerships, stakeholders, visibility, and growth opportunities.
  • Deep Focus Work: Protected blocks for the high-leverage decisions only you can make... like resource allocation, strategy or future planning.

At this stage, your job is no longer to do everything. It’s to maintain alignment, remove bottlenecks, and move the business forward.

You don’t need to be the expert in every area... but you do need to know what matters most, and how to stay focused on it.

Does your calendar reflect the leader you’re becoming? Or the operator you used to be?

If your calendar is full of low-leverage work or reactive firefighting, this is your sign to zoom out... and redesign your week like the CEO you are.

Your time is one of your greatest assets. Design your calendar to reflect that.
